Custom Team Shirts or Pins
Updates in progress for 2026-27
Texas Odyssey of the Mind sell team shirts and trading pins at each competition. This is our main source of income to keep the competition fees low.
Active memberships are allowed to produce their own T-shirts and similar items bearing any of the Odyssey of the Mind words or registered marks for their own use following the guidelines of trademark use in the Program Guide.
The procedure below also applies to any shirt (with or without OM logo) that the membership intends for teams to wear uniformly at any competition. Whether they are called spirit shirts, club shirts, team shirts, the procedure is the same.
Memberships cannot sell them as fundraisers and are subject to specific rules. Permission must be obtained before any production. Contact directors@txodyssey.org for questions.
Procedure for custom shirts with Odyssey of the Mind
a) Shirt design rules
Shirts are given to teams at cost and NOT used as a fundraiser.
The design must not incorporate any use of A.I.
You cannot use the phrases Texas, TX , our named TX regions, World Finals, WF.
You cannot use the TX state shape, cowboy hats or boots, art cows or thematically any of our current pin designs.
You cannot match the colors of any TXOM shirts for the current academic year. Maroon is disallowed as well, as it is the designated color of Officials shirts at World Finals.
Shirts must indicate the school name, following the naming rules of the membership sign (see Program Guide) and the academic year (or just the spring year).
Teams must still observe TXOM specific dress code when applicable (specifically at World Finals).
Shirt designs must be pre-approved each year by TXOM.
b) Process for shirt approval
Submit this Google form (coming soon), allowing one week for review and approval.
You can provide the general idea for preliminary review but the actual design must be submitted for final approval.
If you have a google account, you may upload the design within the form. Or else, submit the form first then email the design to directors@txodyssey.org.
Procedure for school or team pins
a) Pin design rules for World Finals
Pins are given to teams at cost and NOT used as a fundraiser.

You cannot use the phrases Texas, TX , World Finals, WF.
You cannot use the TX state shape, cowboy hats or boots, art cows or thematically any of our current pin designs.
Pins must indicate the school name, following the naming rules of the membership sign (see Program Guide) and the academic year (or just the spring year).
Pins with school name are limited to 35 pins per competing team. Pins with district name are limites to 2 pins per student.
You should be careful with any copyright issues and make sure you understand the rules about copyright as your team bears ALL responsibility for infringement, per the Program Guide rules. States and teams have been sued in the past when they violate copyright laws. Pins based on the intellectual property of existing companies are strongly discouraged. CCI (OdysseyHQ) is reserving the right to disallow usage of any shirts or pins with copyright infringement issues during World Finals.
Your team shall follow the general guidelines for pin trading and no pins should be sold to others, only traded fairly. Pins cannot be represented as official Texas pins.
