Custom Team Shirts or Pins

Teams and schools are allowed to produce tee-shirts and similar items bearing any of the Odyssey of the Mind words or registered marks for their own use.

However, they cannot sell them as fundraisers and are subject to specific rules. Permission must be obtained before any production. Contact directors@txodyssey.org and merch@txodyssey.org.

Here are the general design rules:

  • You cannot use the phrases Odyssey of the Mind Texas, OM Texas, TX OM etc.   

  • You cannot thematically match any TX pins or shirts. 

  • You cannot match the colors of any TXOM shirts for the current academic year.

  • You must spell out your school name, or school district (follow the naming restrictions of the Membership Sign), as well as your city. You can optionally add Odyssey of the Mind or OM, but without TX.  This is to make it clear what group you are representing and to be clear that your pin is not an official Texas state pin.    

  • You cannot use the phrase World Finals, Worlds or WF (that's part of your team contract with CCI (OdysseyHQ), per the Program Guide rules.    

  • Best practice is that the pin should have the year on it.    

  • You should be careful with any copyright issues and make sure you understand the rules about copyright as your team bears ALL responsibility for infringement, per the Program Guide rules.  States and teams have been sued in the past when they violate copyright laws. Pins based on the intellectual property of existing companies are strongly discouraged.  CCI (OdysseyHQ) is reserving the right to disallow usage of any shirts or pins with copyright infringement issues during World Finals.  

  • Shirts or pins are given to teams at cost and NOT used as a fundraiser.

  • Teams must still observe TXOM specific dress code when applicable.

  • Your team shall follow the general guidelines for pin trading and no pins should be sold to others, only traded fairly.  Pins cannot be represented as official State pins.

  • Your pin must be in limited edition (max 100). 

  • Your shirt or pin designs must be submitted to Odyssey of the Mind – Texas, and approved in writing before production. Email director@txodyssey.org or merch@txodyssey.org.
